The American Honda Automotive Certificate program is designed to train students to become Acura automotive technicians without pursuing an associate degree. Students will expand their knowledge of the automoitve Acura service industry and secure employment with an Acura dealership. The Dallas College programs are master certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). NATEF was founded as an idependent, nonprofit organization with a single mission: To evaluate technician training programs against standards developed by the automoitve industry. Since 1983, the NATEF process has resulted in certified automotive training programs in all 50 states at the secondary and post-secondary levels.
Diagnose/repair brake, anit-lock and power booster systems.
Diagnose/repair suspension and steering components. Perform vehicle alignments.
Diagnose automotive electrical and accessory system problems.
Utilize DVOM meters, scopes and other electrical testing equipment to troubleshoot batter, charging and hybrid propulsion systems.
Diagnose fuel injection, delivery and emission control system problems. Diagnose and repair manual transmission systems, drivelines and differentials.
Perform entry-leverl engine overhaul, precision measurementsl perform machining and engine mechanical service.
Diagnose and repair heating and air condition systems, including automatic climate-control systems.
Diagnose fuel injection, delivery and emission control system problems. Utilize scan tools, scopes, DVOM meters and other test equipment in troubleshooting engine and drivability problems.
Demontrate analytical and logical thinking skills in diagnosing mechanical and practical applied problems.
Utilize safe and environmental skills in applying automotive service repair practices
Diagnose fuel injection, delivery and emission control system problems. Diagnose and repair automatic transmissino/transaxle systems, torque converters and 4-wheel drive/all wheel drive systems.
Career opportunities are avialable in positions for automoitve service technicians in Acura dealerships, independent shops, and automoitve machine shops. In addition, graduates are also employed as service managers, shop foremen, parts managers, sales representatives, or automotive instructors. Graduates with practical experience, education, willingness to work, and a high degree of professionalism may expect to find jobs in middle management or research occupations within major automotive corporations.
